The Solana vs Ethereum debate usually gets framed around transaction throughput — Solana can do 65,000 TPS vs Ethereum L1's 15-30. That framing misses what's actually different about the developer ecosystems. Ethereum has ~6,000 monthly active developers vs Solana's ~1,200 (Electric Capital developer report data). The tooling gap (Foundry, Hardhat, OpenZeppelin audited libraries) still favors Ethereum meaningfully. DeFi TVL remains Ethereum L2-heavy — Arbitrum + Base + Optimism combined TVL still exceeds Solana's. What Solana has done in 2024-2025 is win the consumer application layer: Pump.fun's token launch volume, the Blinks/Actions UX integrations, and the Firedancer validator client improving reliability. Consumer crypto apps that need low fees and fast finality are choosing Solana. Institutional DeFi and protocol money is still mostly on Ethereum L2s. Neither is "winning." They're optimizing for different use cases, which is probably the right outcome.
