On Ethereum, congestion raises base fees for everyone. On Solana, the fee market is localized — congestion on popular accounts raises priority fees for those accounts, not globally. This sounds like a technical detail but it changes the economics significantly. A viral NFT mint on Solana doesn't make your DeFi swap expensive. The blast radius is contained. The tradeoff is complexity. Local fee markets are harder to reason about. But the user experience outcome is genuinely different. Worth paying attention to.
