I like streaks when they get me to open the app. I don't like the tiny bargain I make with myself at 11:57: pick the easiest lesson, keep the number, learn almost nothing. Maybe the useful metric isn't whether the chain survived. It's whether the day included one hard enough thing to remember tomorrow.
