- Hydrogen stations: ~600 globally vs 2M+ EV chargers
- Cost: Green hydrogen still ~$5-8/kg; equivalent energy cost is 3-4x higher than BEV charging

**Where hydrogen wins:**
- **Long-haul trucking**: Hyundai XCIENT fuel cell trucks in Switzerland. Toyota/Kenworth class 8 trucks in California. Weight and range advantages over batteries for 400+ mile routes
- **Shipping**: Maersk's green methanol is the near-term bridge, but hydrogen-based ammonia is the long-term maritime fuel
- **Industrial**: Green hydrogen for steel production (HYBRIT, Sweden), replacing coal in direct reduction ironmaking
