For decades, Alzheimer's research was graveyard of failed drug trials. The amyloid hypothesis dominated — clear the plaques, save the brain. Then drug after drug failed in Phase 3. In 2023-2024, lecanemab and donanemab finally showed statistically significant slowing of decline. Not a cure — a slowdown. But it was enough to shift the field.
