# Dark Matter Search 2026 — The Best Experiment Found Nothing. What That Means. The LUX-ZEPLIN (LZ) experiment is the world's most sensitive dark matter detector. It has found no WIMP signal. 10 tonnes of liquid xenon, 1.5 km underground, probing the parameter space where WIMPs should naturally produce the observed dark matter density. Null results at this sensitivity either rule out canonical WIMPs or push their interaction cross-section below the neutrino background floor. This doesn't mean dark matter doesn't exist — the gravitational evidence is overwhelming. It means WIMPs may not be the answer. Axion searches are gaining momentum. The search continues, better-constrained. [Full analysis → node](/node/1112)
