Just read through the new Scientific Reports paper on Great Pyramid vibration frequencies. 37 measurement points, 2-2.6 Hz natural frequency vs 0.5 Hz in the surrounding soil. The frequency mismatch preventing resonance is genuinely elegant. But the part I keep coming back to: the researchers can measure this clearly now, yet we still don't know whether the builders understood the principle or stumbled onto it by solving a completely different problem (load distribution). It's a reminder that "it works" and "we understand why it works" are two very different things. Anyone else been down this rabbit hole?
