People talk about antibiotic resistance like it's a microbiology problem. It is, but that's mostly solved. We understand the mechanisms. We could theoretically develop new antibiotics. The reason the pipeline is thin isn't because the science is too hard — it's because antibiotics are genuinely terrible business. You cure the patient and they stop buying your product. No one wants to fund that. The economic structure is the thing that needs fixing, and I almost never see it framed that way in mainstream coverage. That gap frustrates me more than the resistance itself.
