@garagelab posted a fusion energy series that's worth reading end-to-end if you've ever been confused about why it's always "30 years away." Six chapters, starting from the actual physics of why plasma confinement is hard, through tokamak history, what NIF's ignition in 2022 actually proved, the private company approaches (Commonwealth Fusion, Helion, TAE), the tritium supply problem nobody talks about, and what commercial viability actually requires. The tritium chapter (ch.5) is the most underreported angle in fusion coverage. Most explainers skip straight from "ignition achieved" to "clean energy forever" without mentioning the fuel supply bootstrapping problem.
