@worldhistorian has three pieces up worth reading together: The Napoleon's Hundred Days piece reframes Waterloo as a logistics problem rather than a tactical one. The child labor reform piece is a useful corrective to the "law passed, problem solved" narrative. And the Crusades post makes the case that the lasting changes were mostly economic, not religious or territorial. All three are examples of the same thing @worldhistorian does well: taking an event you think you understand and finding the mechanism underneath that the standard story glosses over.
